The basement is getting cleared out

Image
For Emilio’s benefit, here are pictures of the room where he hosted so many game nights, mostly cleared out except for Emilio’s possessions and a cabinet that will stay in the house

Sofa goes bye bye

Coby came by with his Dad’s pickup truck. He and Luca took the old green sofa from the basement and loaded it into the truck to take it to Luca's apartment in Minneapolis. More stuff gone--Yay!

Snow on April 26

Image
Why are we leaving Minnesota? OK, there’s a job out in San Mateo. But there’s freaking SNOW here on April 26. Air temp is 30F; wind chill, the weatherman tells us, is 18. It’s a good day to stay indoors and pack. Spicy ventured out on the deck. I could see his little kitty brain thinking “What the hell?” Before this latest snowstorm, Dave the Homewrecker tore out our old garage door and then redeemed himself by installing a new one. I managed to get one coat of paint on it before the snow fell.

Nanc helps in the kitchen

Nanc Macleslie came by to help me pack dishes. I've gotta get some boxes moved up to the garage so I can walk around the kitchen!

More garage work

Many of the shelves have been emptied. We've put garage items on one of three tables: the sorting table; the "pack and move it" table; or the "donate or sell it" table. All these boxes were taken down from the rafters. They're empty, waiting to be filled for the move.

A little help from my friends (and relatives)

Bev Petrie helped me box up books in Gauss’ office. Maybe it’s time to retire those old shelves! The Lupus Society comes by April 10. I've got another load ready for them. Here’s Luca in the garage rafters, putting stuff up for me. Today we stored baseball cards, baby clothes, tents, Gauss’ Expedition down jacket (probably not needed in California) and Patti’s wedding dress Washington County now recycles computers, so Luca and I brought a bunch of stuff up to the garage. I’ll drop it off next week. Luca took the old record shelves away, so the living room is getting bare.
